BioVam® Grown
Lawns
BioVam consistently achieves these goals for turf grasses, established
by the USGA:
Substantially reduce and conserve water usage:
Can be cut up to 50%. Soil drainage conditions are going to dictate
how much water reduction is realized. (What you save on water often
pays for the cost of product).
Substantially reduce pesticide applications:
Cut 80% to 90%. 100% if you want to go all organic. Many of the
reasons to use pesticides are significantly reduced when using BioVam®,
often eliminating the need to use them.
Substantially reduce maintenance costs:
40% increase in new shoot growth with up to 80% decrease in clippings,
depending on the NPK of the organic fertilizer used. Fertilize spring
and fall. Develops healthier turf grass: reducing lawn care maintenance
costs overall. BioVam is applied once per year.
Be 100% environmentally safe:
BioVam is 100% Organic and environmentally safe.
Provide a lawn that is drought tolerant:
BioVam aids development of deeper roots and sod biomass, reaching
deeper water tables: less water input is required. Dried out lawns
recover quickly when watered. Lawns stay greener, longer in extended
hot weather conditions.
Reduce the mowing requirements:
Vertical top growth is reduced by up to 80%, depending on the NPK
of the organic fertilizer used. T & J Enterprises recommends
Biosol Organic Fertilizers. Clipping volume is often cut by 50%
to 80%.
Apply only Organic fertilizers:
Biosol is an Organic Fertilizer.

BioVam
is a leader in enhanced year round sustained container growing.
"This plant is less than one month old. Planted in our soil
mix and treated with BioVam."

Develop a lawn tolerant to heavy traffic:
Treated lawns develop up to 40% increase in new shoots creating
denser turf. Soil compaction is significantly reduced: resists wear
from heaver traffic. Recovers quicker.
Develop competitiveness against weeds:
BioVam lawns develop denser turf, deeper roots and sod mass and
are significantly healthier: healthy lawns tend to naturally crowd
out weeds. Many weeds do not like to grow where Mycorrhiza is plentiful.
Weeds like dandelions tend to get crowded out but are never totally
eliminated. Weeds like Black Medic may have to be controlled. It
has taken three years for Black Medic to invade one of our test
lawns.
The lawn must grow in direct sun and shade:
BioVam lawns grow equally well in sun and shade.
Develop more new growth:
BioVam treated lawns commonly develop rhizome roots 3/16 inch to
1/4 inch thick and produces up to 40% new shoot growth.
Develop a deeper root system:
Vertical roots extend deeper into the soil, often up to 17 inches;
sod biomass is denser in the first 12 inches. Soil conditions will
dictate just how extensive, but even in rocky soils our customers
are reporting that deeper development is enhanced.
Reduces sod transplant losses and planting shock:
When drop-spreading BioVam mixed 1:2 with sand, as a carrier before
laying the sod rooting is faster and deeper, greening is enhanced.
Sod drying is greatly reduced. Mending is enhanced and quickened.
Increases tolerance to soil salinity and polluted soil conditions:
One of our test lawns was vandalized by pouring used car motor oil
over the entire length of it: the lawn did not die out. (We do not
recommend the test!) After three years, many of our treated lawns
have been exposed to road grime, chemicals, salts and deicers: spring
growth on these lawns has shown no detrimental effects, whereas
before they were treated showed significant damage in the spring.
"It bears pointing out that, to the best of our knowledge,
the USGA has yet to achieve all of these goals with their current
turf management practices", says Thomas.
Using BioVam to achieve
great looking, natural green lawns is easy!
"You can always spot a BioVam Grown lawn somewhere in the block
in the middle of summer and in the midst of high summer heat", Thomas
says, "it's usually the only one that's all green! And the owner
is not out there every other week dumping high nitrogen or chemical
fertilizers on it to keep it that way!"

We have
yet to capture on camera the richness and spectrum of the
natural greens. The effects vary throughout the day depending
on the light and types of grasses in the lawn, and are spectacular!

picture was taken 8-01-99. The weather forecast for the week,
mid 90's. BioVam Grown lawns just get greener as it gets hotter,
while the non-BioVam lawns in the distance, just get browner.
"How they do that", you ask? See below. |
Mow and rake up any debris. Core or spike aerate your lawn. Mix
appropriate amount of BioVam for area to be treated using one quart
of BioVam with two quarts of Ironite used as a carrier for the BioVam
and for the minerals lawns need. Use a drop spreader and apply to
2,000 square feet. Apply an appropriate organic fertilizer. Use
of BioVam Mycorrhiza requires that turf - and plant - fertilizers
NOT HAVE a phosphorus percentage higher than 2% by weight. Higher
levels of phosphorus are detrimental to the Mycorrhiza fungi. Examples
of appropriate fertilizers: Biosol 7-2-3, recommended and used by
T & J Enterprises, Ringers All Natural 10-2-6, Milorganite 6-2-0,
Cottonseed Meal 6-2-1. Please see our "How To Apply BioVam®"
brochure for fungicidal usage and precautions; which are safe to
use, which are not when using BioVam. Available at the retail centers
below.
