The City of Spokane Valley, Washington became officially incoporated
at 4:30 p.m., March 31, 2003 during the proclamation and ribbon
cutting ceremony at City Hall. Valley residents crowded into the
Council Chamber to listen as Mayor Michael DeVleming read the official
incorporation proclamation document. After the reading, the
document was signed by all seven council members, and the new City
of Spokane Valley was officially incorporated.
"Now, therefore,
I Mayor Michael DeVleming, on behalf of the City Council of the
City of Spokane Valley, Washington Proclaim
March 31, 2003 as the official incoropration date of the City of
Spokane Valley, Washington and the City is officially
constituted as a Municipal Corporation with all the rights, duties
and responsibilities accorded to it by the State of Washington."

The new City of Spokane Valley, Washington will encompass 38.5
square miles and have a population of 80,693 residents.
