Valley Mayor Mike DeVleming recognized the the following individuals
as "honorary Spokane Valley City Council members" for their
contribution to the valley incorporation effort. Here are his comments...
Over the
last ten months we have been reminded of the many failed attempts
at incorporation. We have seen many opponents step forward with
a laundry list of reasons why we should just vote no.
Yet, small
but persistent groups of incorporation crusaders persisted. Refusing
to take no as the final answer, they regrouped, retooled, and tried
again and again. And after many attempts, victory was finally realized.
I realize
that it took many men and women to reach this point today and we
appreciate all of their hard work. I am positive that all that have
been involved are beaming with pride today.
On behalf
of Spokane Valley we would like to recognize the tireless visionaries
that were the key to incorporation. And today it seems only right
in give these 12 men and women a token of appreciation of the years
of hard work.
When you
here your name, would you please step forward:
1 Ed Mertens
2 Dick Behm
3 Howard Herman
4 Joe McKinnon
5 Clark Hager
6 Dennis Scott
7 Dr. Larry Rudy
8 Don Kachinsky
