Spokane Major Crimes’ detectives are seeking information on an HIV positive man who knowingly had unprotected sex with another man.

Zuriel Roush, 22, was arrested last Wednesday on charges of first-degree assault – a Class A felony. Police found out about Roush as the result of a lawsuit filed by a Spokane man who claims he had sexual interaction with Roush who neglected to tell him he was infected with the HIV virus.

Detectives working on the case have informed officials with the Spokane Regional Health District that there may be as many as 80 victims involved.

“We’re trying to get people aware of what’s going on,” said Det. Mark Burbridge with SPD. “This is something that has the potential to be very tragic.”

Detectives are hoping to speak with victims or anyone who may have information on this case. Det. Burbridge can be reached at 625-4262.
The Spokane Regional Health District provides testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. They can be contacted at 324-1600.
