In the city of Spokane Valley, there will be no less than five council positions open. The unusual circumstance occurred due to the resignation of Chuck Hafner and Dean Grafos last year. Also, temporary Council Member Bill Gothmann also stepped down.
Those positions, which have had new members appointed, must now be confirmed by voters for the remainder of the unexpired terms. The seats up for election are held by Caleb Collier, Pam Haley and Mike Munch
Also up for election are the seats currently held by Rod Higgins and Ed Pace, whose regular terms are expiring. Both have indicated they plan on running for new terms.
In Liberty Lake, Council Members Hugh Severs, Odin Langford and Jessica McGuire are up for new terms.
Also, up for election are three seats in Milwood held by Mayor Kevin Freeman and Council Members Connie Smith and Daniel Sander.
Seats occupied by Mayor Carrie Roecks and Council Members Tim Fricke and Brian Laude are up for election in Rockwood.
There are also seats up for election in all Valley school district boards, the Spokane Valley Fire Department board of commissioners.
