The Spokane County assessor election has headed to a recount.
Tom Konis currently leads in late general election counts, and the newcomer has a narrow lead over Leonard Christian. Both are Republicans.
The recount is expected to be finished by Dec. 7.
While Christian led by around 1,100 votes on election night but further counts favored Konis.
Konis has worked for the assessor’s office for years, and retiring Assessor Vicki Horton encouraged him to run.
The count will be done by machine, as Konis has a 152-vote lead. Below 150 votes, a mandatory hand count would be required by state law.
