Visitor Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Spokane County Commissioner Kate McCaslin and the City of Spokane Mayor John Powers were on hand Friday, May 25, 2001 for the grand opening of the new Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce Regional Visitor Center.

The Visitor Center will offer travel and visitor information for Spokane, Washington, the Spokane Valley and surrounding communities in the Inland Northwest.

The center is located in the Spokane Valley Mall, 2nd level at the southeast entrance (facing the I-90 freeway) near the Bon Marche.

The Regional Visitor Center is a collaborative effort of the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Spokane Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Spokane Valley Mall. The three organizations have been working on location and logistics for the new visitor center since late last year. The new center will offer an additional opportunity for visitors to find out about area information, travel attractions, events, entertainment, shopping and hospitality venues.

Loren Mitchell, the President and CEO of the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce welcomed the guests and introduced the following keynote speakers:

  • John Powers - Mayor of Spokane
  • Kate McCaslin - Spokane County Commissioner
  • Dennis Fitzpatrick - Convention and Visitors Bureau Chairman of the Board and General Manager of the Doubletree City Center
  • Jerry Irwin - General Manager, Spokane Valley Mall
