The
Spokane Valley Heritage Museum has opened the doors. Located in the historic Valley
landmark, The Opportunity Township Hall, the Museum houses artifacts, old photographs
and archives depicting and interpreting the history of the entire Valley. A perfect
Field Trip for all Valley School District Students and citizens as well as a great
place to take visitors!Just
a few of the Current Exhibits
"Spokane
Valley, the Apple of My Eye" This Exhibit tells the story of the
first economy of the Spokane Valley, Apples. Pictures, original fruit packing
labels, Apple packing warehouse equipment and other artifacts interpret what life
was like for the Orchardist. "Water
is the Story" This exhibit begins with the geological formation of
the Spokane Valley by Ice Age Floods and impact of Glacial Lake Missoula emptied
by the ice dam giving way. The exhibit consists of Irrigation projects & the
men who irrigated the Valley, Wood water pipe, pictures of the Corbin Irrigation
Ditch and other artifacts. Water as recreation is also part of the story of Water
and the Spokane Valley told through historic pictures of the resorts at Liberty,
Lake. |
