Dear City Leaders,

To maintain a mindset and conduct of meeting that keeps the acknowledgement of duly appointed authority, prayer to open public meetings - especially where momentous decisions are made that may have far-reaching implications and consequences - is indispensable. Prayer of entreaty to the authority that is highest of all authority invokes the purest and best of motives in official leaders and in citizens. In-fighting, insubordination, jockeying for special-interest position are some of the flaws that regularly praying together helps to ameliorate. GOD is the source of goodwill, harmony, prosperity, justice, protection and wisdom. If the members of city council take the attitude that they and our city are without need of betterment, the people of the city will get the impression that city council is unresponsive to their well-being, concerns and needs.

Verse that helps us hold all truth from GOD together: “GOD is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work [2 Corinthians 9:8]”.

If ostentation is allowed to override the need for prayer, the council and agencies of our city will be fragmented, cumbersome and increasingly expensive as each part of this entity of our 'city' considers itself and its own agenda too important to stoop to help the other parts.

Let's pray that we may be blessed.
