Do you like authentic Thai food made-from-scratch? Do you like unique flavorful food, sauces and beverages you don't normally get on a daily basis? Are you tired of the burger, fries and soda? Do you want a change from the fast food scene. Do you want something different?

The place to go for a change is the Riverview Thai Restaurant at Riverwalk. (This is the same "Riverview Thai Restaurant" that began in the Flour Mill in 1991 and moved to Riverwalk in 2002.) Here, you don't get fast food Thai food. You get authentic Thai food cooked to perfection.

Owner/Chef Bang-Orn (whose friends and family call her "On") is the heart and soul of Riverview Thai. The fantastic food found at her restaurant is the result of recipies she brought from Thailand. "On" learned many of them while working in the homes of the Bangkok wealthy, others were passed down family-tradition style. With all of her culinary training, "On" is not just a food "technician." She is a food "Artist" whose abilities and talents let her serve the most common dishes with a flavor and zest unequaled outside of Bangkok.

Needless to say, this was my wife's and my first Thai experience. I have heard that Thai food was hot and spicy. It can be if you order it that way. However, you can have the waiter order the mild version and experience the wonderful new flavors the palate has never experienced.

Words cannot properly convey the marvelous flavor and tastes the food had. The sweet & sour sauce was unlike the usual Chinese flavor I was used to. It was mild and full of flavor.

One of the main ingredients that gave the food a unique flavor was the use of coconut milk in many of the recipes. You have to try it to appreciate the experience.

Their Thai Coffee and Tea is the most unique I have ever tasted. It is sweet and creamy with a special blend of herbs & spices, topped with cream.

You should also check out their lunch buffet from Monday through Fridays (and Mondays in the summer) from 11:30a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Of special note is the exceptional customer service. The waiter was most helpful in helping me understand the menu and explaining the differences in the dishes.

Of course, you can tell by the pictures I took, the ambiance was elegant and relaxing. Such a beautiful location for a restaurant!

Below you will find a series of pictures with descriptions of some of the dishes available. Click the image for a larger version.

Various articles/reviews:

Thai food has become the #1 most talked about ethnic cuisine in America because it breaks the rules. Simply put, Thai food is not only delicious but it's good for you. Try for yourself at the Riverview Thai Restaurant, Spokane's most awarded* Authentic Thai Cuisine restaurant.

The Riverview Thai Restaurant offers savory, mouthwatering dishes in an unequaled setting. You can watch the river as it graciously makes its way past the tree-lined banks and under a marvelous triple-arched bridge, from any seat inside or outside the house.

This serene dreamscape offers the relaxation and romance of another world and time while you enjoy your selection of the most delicious, exotic dishes prepared by world-renown chef, Bang-Orn.

(We can say this now that she will be included in the "Best Thai Foods" cookbook. Maybe even before, since we have had people visit us from Canada, England, France, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Fiji, Samoa, Mexico, El Salvador, Columbia, Philippines, Australia, Turkey, Germany and Finland….and others that I don't recall at this minute, as well as nearly every State in the US.)

The Riverview Thai Restaurant opened in 1991 in the historic Spokane Flour Mill. Twelve years later, visitors to Riverview Thai enjoy even more spectacular surroundings in another historic building, known as River Walk Mall.

Riverview Thai is big enough to host large groups, yet intimate enough for lavishing personal attention on couples and single diners. The extensive food and beverage menus ensure a new dining experience each time you visit.
